Car
Hire in Perth
So
you have just arrived in Perth and need
to hire a car to get around. Car hire can be organised for pick
up at the airport or there are also various car hire companies located
in the Perth CBD, near the airport along Great Eastern Highway and
in various other locations in the metropolitan area.
Its
best to check with individual companies as to their car hire rates
and to compare amongst the different companies to find out which
one best meets your requirements. Car hire rates will be affected
by seasonal factors such as school holidays and popular holiday
times.
Once
you have selected your car, you will have to select your options
which are usually in addition to the base rate for car hire ie.
excess reduction/damage waiver (insurance), extra kilometres charges,
fees and charges such as airport and admin fees, and the hire of
GPS units.
If
you are planning to travel to the country areas of Western Australia
and intend to hire a car once you get to these areas, the selection
of car rental companies is more limited, and the choice is generally
between the bigger car rental companies. Note that there may also
be limitations on the use of the car on certain road conditions
ie. unsealed roads.
A
Listing of the main car rental companies are provided as follows:

Bayswater
Car Rental

The
Bayswater Car Rental business model is based on a low cost formula
of offering only Toyota Corollas for its fleet. Its offices are
located in Perth, Bayswater (near the airport), Fremantle, and Subiaco.
There
are also a range of local car hire companies which are located near
the airport along Great Eastern Highway in Redcliffe, Ascot, Belmont
and Burswood, and Albany Highway in East Victoria Park as you head
in the direction of the Perth CBD. Some may offer cheaper options
for car hire if that is what you are after.
