Got
the Gold Rush Fever?
Step
inside The Perth Mint to relive the heyday of the Gold Rush fever
of the 1890s when it was a hub of activity. Telltale signs of its
factory days are featured in its interesting townscape of chimneys
and roofs.
Today,
the Perth Mint has some interesting activities on offer to suit
a range of tastes and is a great way to spend a couple of hours.

| The
Perth Mint |
The
Perth Mint was built in 1896 and designed in the Federation Romanesque
style. Its history dates back to its establishment in 1899 as a
branch of the British Royal Mint in London till the 1970s when British
ownership of the Mint ended.
The
grounds of the building are quite a pleasant spot to have a break
and to admire the historical features of this building.
Guided
tours are run daily and include a gold pouring demonstration. Marvel
at the hot fiery molten gold that is magically transformed into
a solid bar at the gold pouring demonstration.
Or
whilst away the afternoon with a Devonshire tea in the lovely setting
of The Perth Mint Tea Gardens complete with white starched tablecloths
and a relaxing ambience out to the garden.
The
Perth Mint tea garden has a nice menu on offer including Devonshire
tea and lunch items such as sandwiches and home made pies and salad.
There is a great range of aromatic and exotic teas to choose from.
Or if you can't decide what to have, the English Luncheon for two
is served on an enticing tiered platter. It is filled with a decadent
assortment of finger sandwiches, melt in the moment biscuits and
Devonshire tea complete with scones and jam and cream off course!
The silver service is very professional and friendly.
