We’ve had quite a spate of wonderful festivities this month in Perth. Last week, we had the Festival of Lights and Fremantle Festival, while this weekend it’s the hip and happening Beaufort Street Festival.
You will want to head down to Beaufort Street, Mount Lawley to catch all the action.Held this Saturday 17th November, the Beaufort Street Festival will run from 12pm to 9pm. It’s an event that is high on community spirit and family fun and fast becoming one of the most popular festivals around town each year.
Now in its third season, the festival gets bigger and better every year thanks to the organisers – the community run Beaufort Street Network . This year it stretches from Lincoln Street, Highgate, through to Queens Crescent (north of Walcott Street).
The program for this year boasts an action packed line up of events, things to do, art, music , fashion, wine and food for the family to enjoy.
The indie music scene will be hot to trot at the Bouncing Orange Stage, along with performances at The Flying Scotsman Stage (the Scotto). For lovers of jazz, the James Festival Bar has you covered, presented by the Ellington Jazz Club. And if you don’t happen to get to one of the music venues, you can always listen to a pop up choir, enjoy the music of buskers, or be a busker yourself!
The festival is a family event and even your beloved pooches aren't forgotten. Dogs of all shapes and sizes (and their owners!) can strut their stuff on the runway from 3pm to 4.30pm at the Bendigo Bank stage. Hopefully, they won’t get too distracted by the lovely smell of food wafting from all corners of Beaufort Street!
For food lovers, you’ll be able to scoff the many delights from stalls dotted down Beaufort Street. The Food and Wine Micro Festival is new on the scene this year. For just $10 you can wine and dine your way through the best samples of local food and drink from Beaufort Street merchants.
If you’re already thinking about food on the day, you’ll be chomping at the bit to get a copy of the recipe book: “Recipes and Ramblings: A Food Journey from Beaufort St & beyond”. It’s a great community initiative to gather and share the best recipes from chefs, residents, and shop owners on the strip.
The Beaufort Street Festival is a relative newcomer to the Perth Festival scene. Head down this Saturday and find out for yourself why it has already become a firm favourite amongst locals.
