The State Library of WA at the Perth Cultural Centre has been abuzz with all things technology related - with the XR:WA 2020 AR, Games  and immersive conference and festival held from the 3 December to 6 December.

In its 2nd year running, the technology conference and festival is packed to the brim with immersive experiences, interactive games sessions, films and documentaries, keynotes and talks from leading experts about virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR).

This year it has been made a free festival, and provides an excellent opportunity for those with an interest in technology to attend, along with the general public to gain exposure to what technology in the future might be like us for at the individual level as well as its impacts on our daily lives in the next decade to come – whether it be at work, at school or in our broader community.

Highlights of XRWA:2020 has been the Bio-Fiction Science Art Film Festival.

Show your Love for the Beaufort St Rally Mt Lawley

  Beaufort-St-Rally-Mt-Lawley

Mt Lawley eateries and hangouts have been doing it tough recently due to rent hikes, with many of our favourites closing doors.

Some of the restaurants that have shut up shop include long established mainstays,  with Cantina 663, Clarences, Five Bar, Red Cray on Beaufort and Pancho's Mexican Villa Restaurant all shutting up shop in recent months. A quick drive down Beaufort St will reveal a sea of For Lease signs up and down the main drag.

Tonight, The Beaufort St Network are encouraging locals to support local businesses by dining out and making a night of it along the Mt Lawley café strip. In addition to cafes and restaurants being open, retail shops will also be open for trade tonight.

Cabaret lovers in search of some sizzling hot entertainment will be heading to The Ellington Jazz Club on Beaufort St to get their fix at the Ellington Burlesque and Cabaret Weekend.

The event will run from the 15th to 17th June 2018 and is shaping up to be a fun filled weekend featuring performances by the dynamic duo from The Great Debacle – none other than Carletta the Great and Charlie D Barkle. This time round they will be performing Tease Mania – a creation that has been inspired by Carletta’s time in the US where she spent time at historic music venues and fell in love with the era of the wild 60’s go go scene in Los Angeles.

WA Academy of Performing Arts alumni Charlie D Barkle will also be in action as 007 starring alongside local singer and actress Erin Hutchinson in the James Bond classic “Shaken”.
