La Soirée have arrived back in Perth for their biggest show yet!

The Fringe World atmosphere is in the air around Perth as tents are being set up to host one of the largest fringe events in the world.

The much anticipated La Soirée will kick off festivities this Friday with their opening night – they are back by popular demand for the third year running.

This year La Soirée presents a hot line up of our favourite acts, along with the debut of some stunning and amazing new performers.

Walk by the Cathedral Square precinct on the corner of Hay Street and Barrack Street in the Perth CBD and you’ll see the distinctive Edith Spiegeltent set up.

Look out for the dare devil act of skating duo Leo and Ursula.

Up-for-Love-Luna-230-125

Up for Love the French romantic comedy has opened at Luna Palace cinemas. It’s a boy meets girl love story with a rather unique twist!

The story unfolds with the main character Diane (Virginie Efira) a successful lawyer and partner at her own firm with business partner Bruno, who she also happens to be separated from in her failed marriage.

By chance encounter, she meets Alexandre (Jean Dujardin) – who is charming, rich and successful, however, there is only one slight catch.

Last night was the opening night of Holland Street Productions latest’s show -  Gutenberg the Musical!, and as my partner and I stepped into the Hellenic Centre of WA on Stirling Street in Perth, we eagerly awaited what the local independent theatre group might have in store for us.

The night kicked off nicely with pre show drinks available from the bar amidst chatter and a great vibe coming from the musical patrons.

Gutenberg the Musical! revolves around the two main characters Doug and Bud, who are trying to make it big on Broadway with their new musical about the invention of the printing press by Johannes Gutenberg.

"The more things change, the more they stay the same" is a favourite cliche of our times, but never has it been more true than in Black Swan State Theatre Company and Queensland Theatre Company's production of Tartuffe – the Hypocrite.

Originally written by Molière in the second half of the 17th century, it has been updated by Justin Fleming into modern day Australian and honestly feels as if it could have been written yesterday.

 Porto-Blue-Room-Theatre-210-140

Entering the theatre for The Blue Room’s production of [PORTO] felt more like walking into a cosy laneway bar than a play.

I was immediately drawn in by the set – the unassuming bar counter next to a stage with a microphone, and the funky little couch in the corner.

When [], the omniscient, fourth wall-breaking narrator (played by Joe Lui) stepped up to the mic in his ostentatious red outfit, I knew this was going to be an intriguing show.
